Sami Salo will not suit up for tonight’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks. It was speculated that Sami Salo might play. He travelled to Chicago to be with the team, and skated in yesterdays team sakte. However, he did not skate this morning, and will not play tonight. His injury has not been disclosed, but it is speculated to be a lower body injury, possibly a groin injury. This means that the team will remain the same for tonights game as it was in the last game, a 3-1 Canucks win.

Luongo leaves with lower body injury
Early in the Canucks vs penguins game this morning, Luongo appears to have a lower body injury and left the ice without putting any weight on his left leg. Could be a groin injury by the looks of it. Curtis Sanford has entered the net in replacement of Luongo. Luongo’s injury isn’t yet known but we will keep you updated.
update:
Dan Murphy announced during the first period that Luongo will not return to the game, and is out with a lower body injury. It’s a good thing Curtis Sanford had that big confidence-boosting win two nights ago against Minnesota, as he may be playing in net for a few games to come. The Canucks are up 1-0 after one period of play, with a goal by Pavol Demitra.

Bieksa out for 2 – 3 weeks.
Kevin Bieksa will be out of the line up because of an injury, it appears he suffered in the November 4th game against the Nashville Predators, in which he blocked a shot that hit him in the skate. He has bone chips it is being reported, so he will be out of the line up for the next two to three weeks. Also today the Canucks reported that Sami Salo will be out day to day because of a sore elbow, in which he injured during the last game against the Colorado Avalanche, while diving to try and block a shot that turned out to be Roberto Luongo’s shut-put ending goal against.

Pettinger and Wellwood going through waivers as back-up
The Vancouver Canucks have placed Kyle Wellwood and Matt Pettinger on re-call waivers to hopefully bring them back up to the big club in time for tuesday morning’s skate before tuesday nights game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The forwards are being recalled after several injuries in the Canucks 4-2 loss last nightto the Chicago Blackhawks, where Rick Rypien is out due to a virus, Sami Salo is out with a groin injury, Pavol Demitra is out with an upper body injury, and Darcy Hordichuk is out with a knee injury.
Any club can take either Wellwood or Pettinger off waivers, and only have to pay them half their season’s salary to play on their club, while the Canucks would then have to pay the other half of their salary’s. Gillis and co aren’t afraid of paying as they have plenty of room under the salary cap, however they need healthy players and they need them now.
Be sure to take in the Canucks final game of the six game road trip tomorrow night at 4pm against the Columbus Blure Jackets.
