Sedins Sound Happy After Gillis Meeting
The Sedin twins met for dinner with new GM Mike Gillis Wednesday.
The dinner was the first time the Sedin brothers met the new GM Mike Gillis since his hiring back in April 2008. Daniel was quoted as saying that the meeting was a success and met their expectations.
“I felt good after the meeting,” Daniel said. “I talked to Henrik in the car after and it felt good. Mike is a nice man. I like his ideas on the team. He wants to play a more exciting style of game. We had an open dialogue.”
The Sedin brothers are entering into the final year of their 3.575 million per year contracts, and want a contract extension before they become free agents next July.
GM Mike Gillis was quated as saying, “My impression of them was very good, The meeting was a social dinner to get to know one another in person, to spend a bit of time with them and discuss my philosophy of where I want this team to go. I felt it was critical to have those discussions in person.”
We’ll wait and see if Mike Gillis can pull through and offer the Sedins a favorable home-team discount contract before the season gets underway.
